After a year learning the ropes regarding the processing side of a massive computer in use at that time, Bob started to go out on jobs with the stock takers in London. Most of the jobs at that time were multi-bars belonging to Berni Inns or Chef and Brewer. There was an additional sprinkling of very classy hotels in the West End of London and Cricket grounds.
After about a year of this Bob decided the time was ripe to return to the Midlands and take up with his mentor Clive. 1978 came and Bob found himself working for a Wolverhampton based firm called "Theakers”. This company had no computer and photocopied the stock takers work sheets to post to the client as a result. Not very satisfactory. In 1980 Bob started his own business – with Clive’s help – and Stock Taking Services was born in August 1981. |
