About us

Bob Mita is a Fellow of the Institute of Licensed Stock Auditors (ILTSA) and has over 36 years of experience in the field.

Bob's love affair with the licensed trade started when he got a job in a pub in Wolverhampton to pay his way through College. It was 1969 and soon just the pub scene was not enough so he got a job in a local night club as well.

In 1973 Bob was working full time as a bar-cellar-man for Cannon Inns, a Gloucester based company that employed Venners the stock takers.

Bob was applying for jobs everywhere but what Clive Lucas was doing caught his eye. So the die was cast and off Bob went to London to work from Venner’s Tooley St . Head Office.

After a year learning the ropes regarding the processing side of a massive computer in use at that time, Bob started to go out on jobs with the stock takers in London. Most of the jobs at that time were multi-bars belonging to Berni Inns or Chef and Brewer. There was an additional sprinkling of very classy hotels in the West End of London and Cricket grounds.

After about a year of this Bob decided the time was ripe to return to the Midlands and take up with his mentor Clive. 1978 came and Bob found himself working for a Wolverhampton based firm called "Theakers”. This company had no computer and photocopied the stock takers work sheets to post to the client as a result. Not very satisfactory. In 1980 Bob started his own business – with Clive’s help – and Stock Taking Services was born in August 1981.
